Ready to blossom? Not yet! |
Last week’s thaw brought a reprieve from the cold winter weather. Flora and fauna rejoiced. The rabbits arose from their burrows hopping around looking for fresh shoots. The trees sprouted buds and the irises poked up through the formerly frozen ground. Now they will all have to just put it on hold.
This week winter returned with a vengeance. Old man winter has come back from his northern vacation home and he is spreading his icy breath all over the place.
The false spring is history. I’m no groundhog but I am predicting a bit more winter. So you had better button up.
Mother Nature doesn't like to be fooled with so ol' man winter better quit playing games or he'll have to answer to her!
ReplyDeleteLove your words and these photos are neat!
It's such an amazing thing that just a little bit of warmth can cause plants to start to grow...enjoyed your post!
ReplyDeleteI think there is going to be more winter too Crystal! It's funny though, just a little warmth, will bring out the plants! Poor little guys, they were tricked!!!
ReplyDeleteThe green sprouts are such hopeful signs. Too bad they were short lived. They will be back, though, and hopefully to stay for a while next time : )
ReplyDeleteOh, I always get a bit nervous when I see buds sprouting too early. Hopeful.....but nervous!
ReplyDeleteThe cold did not even want to go!
ReplyDeleteHere in Sardinia island's snowing!
Ciao Crystal!
I saw a few new green shoots coming up in my flowerbed today!
ReplyDeleteHints of Spring....Yes!
Lovely photos! :3
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping against hope that warmer weather will make its way to us soon. This morning it was negative 22 degrees outside here. :(
Signs of spring are so hopeful. I see daffodils barely peeking through the soil, a sign of future beauty.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition of shapes, lights and shadows.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sick of winter!! You should join Maria and I in our quest to paint 28 paintings in 28 days in February. Should be fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, spring is coming:-)) I look forward to the Iris....... In June I want to visit Monet´s garden in Giverny (France). A lot of wonderful flowers and Iris are waiting there to be photographed by me. Hugs from Luzia.
