Winter Arabian Horse ACEO |
It has been a little over two weeks since I have been newly dubbed an empty nester. My son left for basic training in the Air Force and now it is just my hubby and I.
I know there are benefits for being just the two of us, and I really am enjoying these benefits. Privacy is no longer an issue. I don’t have to clean up messes as much and there will be HOT water when I decide to take a shower. When the music is loud it will be because I turned it up. I will once again hold the remote for the television in my very own hands. In addition an 18-year-old male packs away enough groceries to feed about 10 extra people. So my trips to the grocery store will no longer affect my retirement. Still I am a little bit sad.
In addition, I’m feeling under the weather and they are calling for freezing rain tomorrow. Snow I love, rain, especially the freezing kind, I could definitely do without.
Since there are many reasons my creative juices have drained from my body, I guess I won’t write anything clever or witty today. As Scarlett O’hara stated so eloquently, “Tomorrow is another day.”
Mornin' Crystal...........it's a bittersweet time for you. Pamper yourself and your husband. I find that I, myself have to take a daily excursion out of the house or I go stir crazy, even if it's just to go for a short walk around my yard, as my hubby says "let's peruse the perimeter." And, I always take my camera just in case......
ReplyDeleteI find the winter rejuvinating for painting. There's much more time in the studio, w/ fewer distractions. But, I also, go for walks.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel about children moving out. There seems to be an empty space everywhere. It took me quite while to adjust and I had some sad feelings. But We are also happy to see that our children grew up to be independent and can go out into the world on their own. That was our goal, after all, to raise strong, self assured children. I hope you are feeling better soon. It is time to take good care of yourself : )
ReplyDeleteLove the white arabian horse! He is perfect for this post...so strong and independent.
My nest has been empty for awhile - and I'm always glad for the visits that overfill it. I look at the kids from a new perspective. Happy that they are enjoying their lives.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this new freedom and savor the time to be together, alone.
Hang in there Crystal...my nest emptied and then our youngest came back home and two of the others live right across the street. Only one lives far away and I wish that she lived closer :)
ReplyDeleteYour art is gorgeous...love them all!!!
The chick has become an Eagle, you are looking for is just his way.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter turns 18, next will fly away to study!
Beautiful horse!
Ciao Crystal!
Hey Crystal, try to keep smiling ;o) And, I hate the freezing rain too!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that´s great! Hugs from Luzia.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding Arabian. Loved your heartwarming post. Enjoy the seasons of your life. And embrace the saddness. It is because you love so much, and that is a blessing.
