Americana for the modern age?
I’ve lived in a small town for most of my life. It is quaint. Some of the streets are cobbled and there are remnants of 16th
century America in abundance. Yes,
as cliché as it may sound, George Washington really did sleep here, and often
since he grew up not a mile from the city.
Antique shops, restaurants and specialty stores, have
replaced most of the stores on Main Street from my youthful years but one old
time drug store still remains. You
can still get a shake, a cherry coke, a BLT, and sit at a counter with twirling
stools to consume it all.
There are still some aged and weathered signs hanging
on the walls. One particular sign
caught my eye and gave me a chuckle. It seems things haven’t changed much at
all.
Have a great day!

Crystallized?
My Carpal Tunnel surgery was on Tues. While I was under anesthesia he gave me
a shot of cortisone for the pain of Tennis elbow. Honestly I don’t know how that happened, I mean I don’t even
play tennis! Anyway with some
people the side effects of cortisone is that it crystallizes and causes way
more pain than tennis elbow every does.
Crystallizes! How is that
for ironic? To add to the
nightmare the pain meds made me sick as a dog.
So for the next few days, typing is at a minimum and art is
nonexistent.
Crystallized clear signing off.

Mayhem—like him
I don’t watch much TV, but when I do I really don’t like
commercials. That’s what a DVR is
for right? Most of the time
commercials are just a waste of time.
The only time (and I know I’m not alone) I watch TV strictly for the
commercials is during the Super bowl when advertisers make an effort to make
their commercials creative and fun to watch.
Every so often, though, a commercial comes along that breaks
the boring rule, and it’s actually better than the program one is trying to
watch. Remember the “Where’s the
Beef?” commercials…. oops I’m showing my age here.
If I could I would like to give a Crystal Clear award for
the best commercials. My fave
right now is the Allstate Mayhem guy.
If you don’t have it where you live, you are missing a group of fun
advertising magic.
