I’ve lived in a small town for most of my life. It is quaint. Some of the streets are cobbled and there are remnants of 16th
century America in abundance. Yes,
as cliché as it may sound, George Washington really did sleep here, and often
since he grew up not a mile from the city.
Antique shops, restaurants and specialty stores, have
replaced most of the stores on Main Street from my youthful years but one old
time drug store still remains. You
can still get a shake, a cherry coke, a BLT, and sit at a counter with twirling
stools to consume it all.
There are still some aged and weathered signs hanging
on the walls. One particular sign
caught my eye and gave me a chuckle. It seems things haven’t changed much at
all.
Have a great day!
That's pretty cute!! :):)
ReplyDeleteI bet some kids would like it anyway! Valerie
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your post. So many memories... I grew up in a small town where we had a drug store with a soda fountain. Cherry coke, and vanilla cream coke, and a suicide...a pump of every flavor.
ReplyDeleteLove the sign. Whoever thought that one up has my weird sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteI love the sign! I want the sign! LOL! I think it's great that you still have an old time drug store! Very special!
ReplyDeleteHaHaHa...That is just too dang cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the sign!!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a small town. Unfortunately it has grown by leaps and bounds and lost much of it's charm.
"what goes around, comes around" and "there's nothing new under the sun" those sprang to mind as I read your post ;) love those old drug stores, how fortunate that you still have one available!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your compliment on my art...means a lot to me to have a fellow artist make a compliment!
