I'm Ready, Fall's not

What is up with the weather?  It’s September for crying out loud and the heat and humidity has not retreated one bit!  This summer is just plain crazy!  Last month a rabid beaver attacked two girls. I’m sure the victims (who had to undergo painful rabies shots) will not think it’s funny, but seriously, imagine a visual of a rabid beaver and try to not find some humor there.  Today, the news announced another beaver attack.  Like I said crazy summer, mad, crazed, rabid beavers, what’s next a rabid cow?

Two weeks ago, in August I started pulling out my autumn decorations and setting them around.  I guess in my heat induced delirium I thought that if I thought hard enough about fall... it would arrive.  This is so unlike me.  Usually I’m lucky if I get my Halloween pumpkin in time to make a Thanksgiving pie.

I realized I was confusing my loved ones when my daughter came over and casually asked me if I was all right when she noticed the Thanksgiving display on my kitchen counter.

“It’s only August Mom, I think you may be rushing things just a bit.”

So I'm clicking my ruby glittered slippers together and saying…

“There’s no time like fall, there’s no time like fall,” and hoping I wake up to a crisp autumn morning…not likely but hey, at least this year I'll be ready.

  3. The weather is definitely weird! Our schools have mostly gone back today and the weather is better and seems more settled than it has been all summer. Nice warm sunshine, not too hot, deep blue skies and crisp mornings and evenings that feel autumnal, to say the least.

Do you think that if I stand outside, facing west and blow very hard, I might be able to send you some of our lovely pre-autumn weather?

  4. We had a late start on summer here so I'm trying to keep that in mind and not think too much about fall. It's still hot during the day but it does cool down at night so we can sleep with a window open. I'm predicting that by the end of the month I'll have my fall decorations out.

  7. Amazing scarecrow painted on the pumpkin! I'm with you Crystal--Fall can't get her fast enough for me, too.

My husband had to have rabies shots a number of years ago--they weren't too bad at all!

  8. Love the pumpkin! Scarecrow was my favorite!
We were teased by some fall weather for a couple of weeks, then another hot spell, and now suddenly fall weather again--so it IS coming (knock on wood!). :):)

  10. In south Mississippi, we barely get a Fall; but, oh how I love it when we do! I love making a big pot of soup, opening the windows, watching the leaves fall...all those wonderful Fall weather jewels. I wanted to add that I love, love, love your pumpkin with the scarecrow! Did you do that? Is it paint? vinyl? I'm so impressed. :-)
