"My old guitar" colored pencil ACEO |
This week the poll on Paint Party Friday is about what kind of music one listen’s to while creating their art. Let’s just get this out into the open right off the bat. I must have music playing while I am painting or I will hum. Yes, I hum, an annoying tuneless hum. Just a warning—tuneless hums are a deterrent to creativity.
If I turn on my tunes, then the humming takes a back seat and I sing along. I guess I am a natural participant, so I don’t listen to classical. I cannot do an adequate impression of a cello with my vocal cords. So I listen to a mix of oldies and some newbies.
If it is a particularly bright, cheerful song, I put down my brush and dance. Yes, I dance like no one is watching. And that is just fine with me. My studio, which is in my basement, allows me plenty of warning if someone should come down the stairs. I will not have to live in fear that one of my kids will get a video and post it on YouTube with the title, “Mom experiencing seizure.’
So in conclusion I guess Dancing with the stars is a no go for me, and unless American Idol raises its age limit (since I am a tad above) I won’t be auditioning there either. I will still, however, continue my habit of Painting with the oldies! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I love this painting so classical and elegant- I can really hear the sound of it playing in my head!
And your words, made me laugh out LOUD! I too listen to music and when a good song comes on, I practice at the hula hoop- I only do this when no one's home because my kids LOVE to laugh at me when I practice ;D
Happy PPF,
Stephanie
Mornin' Crystal, I paint to the sounds of silence...........shhh, I'm painting. Oh I do hear the birds chirping out in the trees nearby, or my grandson rehearsing his singing for the next school concert (he's awesome) but that's all and that's enough for me.
Enjoy your day!
I love to get up and dance too!
This is a wonderful piece.
This is such a funny post. I loved it. I listen to Pandora radio and it is typically on the DJ Tiesto station (thump.bump.music)
I love the guitar. Having just attempt to draw, redraw, and paint a violin I have a great appreciation for the quality of this instrument you have here.
Favorite music and dancing while creating...excellent!
Your guitar is excellent. I love the sheen on the wood. I like all kinds of music and of course, dancing : )
I love music - and dancing - while painting or dancing, it just seems to belong! Hugs, Valerie
i love this piece! Your work is always so good! i like all sorts of music when i work....i am into Adele, right now! LOVE her voice! xo
Fun post and awesome guitar, your art and your music.
Well done. I like your BLOG too. Happy PPF!
So realistic. The shadows just add that much more realism to this wonderful piece!

I always wanted to learn the guitar and I love your old guitar. Looks pretty good. Great work.
I'm flabbergasted at what you can achieve with coloured pencils, Crystal! I thought the guitar was a photo until I read the comments and realised it wasn't! You've inspired me to 'have a go' - once I catch up with my backlog of computer work!
I'm afraid I can't paint at all without music but it has to be from a very limited choice of the classical 'Romantic' composers - Rachmaninov, Chopin, Tchaikovsky etc. The CDs all last about 45 mins and if I'm not putting the finishing touches when the music comes to its final crashes and bangs, I've probably gone on too long and ruined it!
Forget American Idol - you're getting another great ~British Simon Cowell export - The X Factor! No age limit there my lady!
This year a woman in her 50s made it to the semi final and now has her first album in the Top 10 of the charts. Auditions in the States started this week!!
Grab that guitar and go sing!
nice use of colour and shading, highlighting.
Crystal, this painting is amazing. I love the way you've captured the highlights on the guitar.
Have a great weekend.
Oh, I love this! One of the ATC themes I collect is Girls with Guitars.
What beautiful work you do with colored pencils! WOW! LOVE this. :)
A very realistic painting and listening to guitar music it is even more. Greetings
This is a fabulous guitar (and I love that you posted based on this week's poll... very cool.)
I love your sense of humor - You had me in stitches about the You tube dancing video! Ha! (When I was a mural painter I used to jump off the ladder & dance when my favorite songs came on the radio... much to my partner's horror and amusement! Ha!)
xo

p.s. I love your captcha definitions!
p.p.s. the captcha I am seeing right now on your blog is:
carphi : a fishy greeting
Love the detail in this colored pencil drawing and the use of complementary colors really bring the guitar to life. The music is nice, too...all around great job!
I love your guitar painting! I can't believe that is colored pencil. That's not how they look when I use them. lol. It's nice to not live in fear of being plastered all over YouTube isn't it. :)
Fabulous guitar, very charming.
What a great post!
Love your guitar!
lol...."Mom experiencing seizure" haha! Hey, if you've got the right spirit, who cares about rhythm! Great work and goes perfectly with the PPF theme! Thanks for visiting my blog too :)

Annabelle ~^..^~
A great post and ACEO, Crystal, inspired by music! When you were talking humming I kept hearing in my head "whistle while you work" from Snow White (Cinderella?).
I love the dancing too! Not enough room for me to do that in my art space but I love that you can!
What a fabulous guitar! I love the rich blue background...ACEOs are so fun! You are so funny--do I have to worry about the kids secretly videotaping and putting on youtube my embarrassing moments?!?! They wouldn't dare....HAve a wonderful weekend :)
this is really incredible work! I love the coloring
I can almost hear the music coming from your guitar! and I'm with you dance like no ones watching!!!
Lynn
Great drawing, Crystal!! Excellent, realistic work. The highlight just makes it pop, and the color combination is so pleasing. I love it =) Also love your sense of humor...I have been singing and dancing lately, too. Kathryn
Love your guitar! I sing to the radio all the time (C&W is my style) but my kids all ask me politly to shut up when they are around cuz I can't carry a tune in a bushel basket. And yeah, I've been known to break out into dancing too! Happy PPF!
Wonderful use of light and shadow with your guitar. Delightful post. :)
"I dance like no one is watching"! May I borrow that for a poem title and idea. So so funny!
