These boots are made for sloshing on PPF

11 x 14 acrylic

It was a dark and stormy night. It was a dark and stormy day.  It was a dark and stormy night… again! I won’t go into the next day because I think you get the picture.  Irene breezed through with wind and rain, but Lee; well she is just sticking around night and day.   She brings thunder, lightening, and the only thing missing is a haunted house.

The day, no matter how dark and dreary, must go on.  So as you set out for work, school, or chores, how do you keep dry?

Do you grab your boots, your umbrella, and maybe a raincoat? Within a few minutes you discover that rain is sneaky and it sometimes comes down sideways so your umbrella is not doing the job you thought it would do.  You naively stand on a curb and find that drivers have no courtesy where pedestrians are concerned and you are now dirt spattered and drenched.  If your boots are not the rubber kind, your feet are now residing in a swamp.  A gust of wind comes out of nowhere and your umbrella turns inside out.  You arrive at your destination; your carefully coifed hair is stringy and glued to your head making “bad hair day” an understatement.  Don’t look now but you have arrived at The Rocky Horror Picture show, and you are the star attraction.

As I sit typing in the semi darkness of this once again rainy day, I wonder will it become yet another dark and stormy night?  Could that be chains I hear rattling?

Last week I was on vacation in fantastic sunny weather and wasn't here for Paint Party Friday but I'm back now and I'm joining in  PAINT PARTY FRIDAY  once again.... so...see you there!  Thanks to Kristin and Eva-- our hosts.

Love the boots painting! I've always wanted cowboy boots--maybe one of these days I'll be brave enough to get myself some!

Been raining here all week, too. Very dreary!

Love the painting and Love your post! I can imagine the rain hitting you on the side and the umbrella turning inside out! This is why I always where a rain coat with a hat! And, I tie the strings tight under my chin ;o) Did you ask if the color was yellow? Well, of course it is! LOL!

Such great imagery, both in your painting and your words! Those are not the boots I would wear outside in a rainstorm. I have some lovely, colorful, flower boots that both make me happy AND keep the rain out. I would wear those!

You've captured the personality of those boots! We live on a small farm, and my son's been wearing boots since he could walk. He's outgrown his first pair, but now they're on display up on his shelf :)

Also ~ If you like boots, you should check out Paul Bond boots... expensive, but works of handcrafted art!

Love the boots and the post. I used to live in the part of the country where that type of weather was the norm and I can relate to the post. When the weather's like this just remember that nothing lasts forever. The sun will return and the rain will let up, when is anybody's guess. Happy PPF

This looks really cool, the way the wood sort of reflects into the floor and then fades to blue where the shadows fall... Beautiful work!

You had me chuckling reading this, & those boots I'd wear rain hail or shine, LOVE them, and of course no wonder you were so inspired to make them a gorgeous piece of art, really feel the worn comfort of those boots, you have captured their personality :)
We usually just get wet here, we have 2 broken umbrellas at the top of the stairs & no raincoats, but funny enough the other day, it was warm & this delicious tropical storm came over with big sloppy drops & both my girls asked 'is it OK if we go for a walk in the rain?' Of course the answer was yes, and they came back 15mins later laughing... and drenched!

You rendered the detail so well ... hope I could be able to do that one day ...

Great boots! They look super comfy when dry... Though sloshy is far from comfortable! Hope they dry well and aren't ruined.

What a fabulous painting - I would've sworn it was watercolour if you hadn't said it was acrylic. I enjoyed your post - I could totally picture the wet, soggy lady with the rat's tail hair shaking her fist as yet another inconsiderate driver sprays puddles all over her!!

Your work is always so true to life! Wonderful work! Sorry to hear about the storms. We lost one of my favorite trees to the wind in a recent storm. Glad you are safe in all of the mess. Try to stay dry!
