The black hole

The black hole

No, I’m not talking about space, not really.  What I am talking about is the space inside my purse.  For some reason when something goes in there, well, it’s really in there.  And to be perfectly honest, there are an awful lot of somethings in there.  Need a mint; it’s in there.  Need a comb or a brush or a hand mirror, yup it’s in there. Need a compact car; it might be in there.

Things go in but rarely come out.   They just disappear into space.  Have you ever had your cell phone ring and search till the ringing stops?  I have, often.  So I call back.

“Ok, Mom stop screening your calls!”

“I’m not, I just couldn’t find my phone.”

”Again?’

“Again.”

I know there are special little pockets made just for cell phones; a more organized individual would probably use that.  Me, I’m always in a hurry and when I hang up, it’s any port in a storm.

Keys are another of those items that just seems to disappear.  I know I got here with them, but when it’s time to leave, well they are just M-I-A.

So I resort to the only thing that works, the old spill and search.  I dump the contents onto the first available surface only to find my son’s matchbox car.  My son is 19. All joking aside, I really do change purses once in a while, still I find things in there I haven't seen in ages.

Voila!  The elusive keys appear, in the only place I didn’t look, the cell phone compartment.

OMG!!! I got one of those black holes too. I just didn't know that's what it's called. It's been more than a week and I'm still looking for my glasses that I tossed in there.

Great story Crystal. I had one of those; it had a tear in the lining and everything went underneath. Didn't find that missing pen until I was about to toss the purse out. I'll never be fooled like that again!

I finally went to a small purse. It's still a small black hole, but less to go through. I used to lose my keys all of the time, after having babies I decided I needed help, so I got a ribbon necklace to put my keys on. They have them at Home Depot and Lowe's in the key section. I have a zebra printed one. Haven't lost my keys since. It's hard to miss that bold pattern even in a black hole. I was also bad about laying my keys down in the floor of the car or the back when I was buckling in babies, but now I just throw them around my neck and voila no crazy search for the keys so we can leave the parking lot. I wish I had gotten a colored phone case so it would be easier to find. The only color they had aside from black was pink, and I'm just not a pink kind of girl. I may have to adorn my phone case with something bright.

Now that you mention it carrie, I just got a new cell phone last week, it is bright blue and you cannot miss it. In fact a cashier even said something about how bright my phone was when my purse was open. Now if I could just learn how to answer the thing by pressing the correct button!!! :-)

I think we all have black holes. Mine is aka the hall closet aka the bottomless pit. Doors have to be opened carefully so as not to cause an avalanche. What goes in, sometimes falls out, but most things just disappear. A sort of Bermuda Triangle in my back hall.Hugs, Valerie

I am totally with you! You never know what might turn up in my purse, either! LOL, love this post!
PS - My daughter and my husband BOTH got altitude sickness while we have been here...it would be a great idea for a post!
Hope you are having a great week....XO

I can relate to this, too. I am always missing calls because I have to fumble to find my phone too long. I recently switched purses and found my husband's keys that he thought he lost 2 months ago : )

HA! Love it!
Now that the kids have kids - I am free to carry a wristlet. Holds some cash, my phone, chap stick and credit cards and the keys clip to the outside. Sometimes I carry a larger one that holds a comb and a pen, too.
