Painting by Nick Massi of the Four Seasons |
Last week my husband and I went to New York and saw the Jersey Boys musical. I adore Broadway and as you all know by now I love New York, even with its slight imperfections. Although I liked the Four Seasons music when I was a kid, I wasn’t a super fan. Hearing this music once again put me in such a good mood. It was so upbeat and I doubt that there is anyone of any age who wouldn’t enjoy the heck out of it. Amazing since the songs are over 40 years old!!!
So… I changed my background music to Four Season’s songs. I know they are not the original recordings, but I like to go instrumental so as not to be too distracting on my blog. I hope you enjoy them.
I learned a lot about the real Four Seasons. The songwriter was a prodigy, a creative genius. Their sound was unique. They were multi-talented. And I never knew that Nick Massi, the bass player and background vocalist was an accomplished fine artist as well. Music is an art so it makes sense that talent would transfer to other forms of creativity.
Nick’s daughter set up a website in honor of her father who passed away on Christmas Eve, 2000. Nick’s paintings can be viewed on the following website. Please enjoy the fine art of one of the unsung singers of the group, The Four Seasons. As his character said in the show…
“What do you do when there are four guys and you are the Ringo?”

Wonderful post today, and lovely portrait of Jesus.
I've only seen a few live musicals. One years ago with Yul Brenner, Deborah Kerr in The King and I, and Hershal Bernardi, in Fiddler on the Roof.
Yes, I plan to do a watercolor of "Blue Boy"....
Love and Hugs

Just had a look at the site. What a talented guy he was - such beautiful art. He must have created daily for sure to have created so much music and art. Lovely that his daughter set up a website to share his art with the world. And thank you for sharing the story and links with us too!

I noticed right away that the music changed. The Four Seasons are fantastic; although I'm fairly young, I grew up with that stuff. It's still great. :D I never knew Nick Massi was an artist, either. Will have to check that web site out. Glad to hear you had a fun time on Broadway!! :D This was not the trip with the infamous bus, though, was it?
I always loved the Four Seasons. Those high notes from Frankie! I listened to all the songs, I had their albums, and I wish I still had them. Didn't know that Nick was an artist! Love this post.
Hey crystal,
when I was a kid my mom was a waitress at a diner where the 4 seasons hung out. I met them when I was little. When I went to see Jersey boys, I turned to my daughter and husband and told them that during a part of the play where there is a waitress with dark hair at a diner, that was my mom. LOL. just to see the look on their faces was pricelss.Glad u had a good time.Happy PPF...a bit late. take care, gerri.
Thanks for commenting on my little garden painting yesterday. Happy PPF. take care, gerri
