In a perfect world?

It’s only a few weeks till Easter and I have to admit my most favorite thing to do is to color Easter eggs. Very soon I will be taking out the food coloring and mixing up colors only seen in my mind’s eye.  Some will be pretty and some will definitely be Egg-ly ducklings.

Guess I just love colors...and this time of year offers me the chance to color play with abandon.

There is a certain drawback however.  Food coloring is a bit hard to remove from body and surface.   I usually end up with blue hands almost till Memorial Day!

I was thinking that if the chickens would cooperate and just lay the eggs pre-colored, it would save me from becoming a Smurf-ette.  What do you think?

Linking up with Sunday Sunday Sketches. See you there…

Love your nest!!! you are so talented!
I agree, i always make a huge mess when dying eggs....it would be a lot easier if they came pre-colored

This is beautiful! I love the nest, and the colors, Crystal!!!

Here is what I do for some of the Easter eggs that I want to keep in the earthtone shades.

I bowl my eggs in yellow onion skins, a few drops of yellow, and red food coloring, vinegar, and of course water, and they come out in lovely shades of browns~~~

Hugs, Jan

Over from Sophia. Love, love your nest. Even more though I love that one egg has a different color. We all like to be unique and stand out - for one or another reason. Love it

Yummy nest... :)

Well maybe if you fed the chickens coloured corn then that might do the trick? Or perhaps provide them with brush and paint?

Tee Hee. Love your delightful piece. I think I can hear the little birdy tweeting.... quick she's coming back... we'd best leave her in peace :)

I say no to corporate eggs because those poor chickies work hard enough as it is to lay the white or brown kind. Plus decorating them later is fun. Love the colors of the eggs here though--they actually look real.

Now if someone could figure out how to have hens lay colored eggs, they would have the Easter egg market cornered for sure! Cute nest!

half the fun is having coloured hands I think... I usually end up with some strands of hair and a smudge on my forehead as well.... great sketch...xx

Beautifully done nest and eggs!
That would be something to have pre-colored eggs.

I love your eggs in a nest... that reminds me, I bought some food coloring when Maddy and I went to the Dollar Tree, now where is that bag?

Cute little nest!

There ARE chickens that lay colorful eggs. Blue and green! We used to get them from my mother-in-law when she kept chickens.

Egg coloring is fun, though! I haven't done it in years.
